I download the deb package of Steam from the official site, but after the installation, when I try to launch it I receive that message:

You are missing the following 32-bit libraries, and Steam may not run:

libc.so.6

sudo apt-get remove steam
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get install libc-i386
sudo dpkg -i steam.deb
sudo apt-get -f install

Enjoy :D

Yes, but..

giorgio@Asus-K53SD:~$ sudo apt-get install libc-i386

Lettura elenco dei pacchetti... Fatto

Generazione albero delle dipendenze

Lettura informazioni sullo stato... Fatto

E: Impossibile trovare il pacchetto libc-i386

..there isn't a package called libc-i386 in the repository!

Valentin wrote on Dec. 21, 2014:

Oops, try to use libc6-i386 :)

GiorgioDramis wrote on Dec. 21, 2014:

YEAH! Now it works! Thank you!

Valentin wrote on Dec. 21, 2014:

No problem :)

Steam is also in the non-free repository of Tanglu - as soon as you enabled i386 support on amd64, you should be able to install it from there :-)

GiorgioDramis wrote on Jan. 8, 2015:

How do I activate them?

matthias wrote on Jan. 8, 2015:

The non-free repository should already be enabled.

The following should do the job:

sudo apt remove steam
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt update
sudo apt install steam

GiorgioDramis wrote on Jan. 8, 2015:

Initially I had tried but the PC still did not find steam in the repositories!

matthias wrote on Jan. 8, 2015:

Is non-free enabled in your /etc/apt/sources.list? (check the lines for non-free).

the package is available

GiorgioDramis wrote on Jan. 8, 2015:

Yes it is!

Do you get an error message when running apt update or apt install steam?

Does

sudo apt install steam:i386

work?

Valentin wrote on Jan. 9, 2015:

Perhaps, you should add these lines:

http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/Mirrors/archive.tanglu.org/tanglu/ http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/Mirrors/archive.tanglu.org/tanglu/

With "sudo apt install steam:i386" it works! Thank you guys!
